GLOBAL ECO VILLAGE NETWORK (GEN)

GEN operates mainly through the offices and volunteers of its three Regions:

GEN Europe and Africa

GEN Oceania

The Ecovillage Network of the Americas.

Network members include large networks like Sarvodaya (11,000 sustainable villages in Sri Lanka); EcoYoff and Colufifa (350 villages in Senegal); the Ladakh project on the Tibetian plateau; ecotowns like Auroville in South India, the Federation of Damanhur in Italy and Nimbin in Australia; small rural ecovillages like Gaia Asociación in Argentina and Huehuecoyotl, Mexico; urban rejuvenation projects like Los Angeles EcoVillage and Christiania in Copenhagen; permaculture design sites such as Crystal Waters, Australia, Cochabamba, Bolivia and Barus, Brazil; and educational centres such as Findhorn in Scotland, Centre for Alternative Technology in Wales, Earthlands in Massachusetts, and many more.

GEN's main aim is to support and encourage the evolution of sustainable settlements across the world, through:

Internal and External Communications services; facilitating the flow and exchange of information about ecovillages and demonstration sites;

Networking and project coordination in fields related to sustainable settlements and with international and regional organizations ((UN Best Practices, EU Phare, EYFA, Ecosoc).

GEN strives to support the development of ecovillages around the world; to build strong international, national and regional networks of ecovillages; to create an organizational structure capable of linking grassroots ecovillages and projects into a strong, participatory worldwide movement; to develop Living and Learning Centers worldwide, to promote hands-on participatory education in sustainable living; to support worldwide development of whole systems and experiential learning; to advocate for sustainable communities in public forums; to partner and collaborate with organizations and people who share our vision.

ON DREAMS AND VISIONS.

"Your dreams are your visions of where you'll be after the battle,
your prize at the end of your journey to success.
Your goals are the steps you take to finally attain your prize.

Unless you're willing to work hard and establish some discipline in your life,
all of your dreams will be pipe dreams,
little mental fantasy trips that will never materialize.

Make concrete steps toward fulfilling your ultimate dream,
and start with solid objectives called goals,
Your dreams are where you want to go,
your goals are how you get there."

The first indispensable step
to getting the things you want out of life is this:
decide what you want.

Don't be afraid to think big and dare to be great.
Dreamers are not content with mediocrity.
They never dream of going half way.

People with goals succeed because they know where they're going"

"Peace is not a passive nor definitive state, a kind of Dead Sea where the river of History goes to die. On the contrary, peace is a state of high human activity which mobilizes the highest functions of the human spirit. Peace requires a continuous creation of new values, new emotions, new ways of thinking. It is only at this price that our new institutions that peace requires can live. In a word, Peace is the highest and most arduous form of the Universal Revolution." (Madariaga, president of the "Thirteen", League of Nation)

cancercell

Above, a cancer cell, whose conduct deviates from the other cells which are an integral part of the Community of healthy cells. In a healthy and sustainable environment, destructive cancer cells (which act like aggressive parasites) have the tendency to redifferentiate back into the Community of vibrant cells to help protect and promote the integrity of the Self. See the Science on this in the book section.

BONOBO

Above, the bonobo great ape, who can help us to understand the difference between a cancerous cell and society versus a healthy cell and community.

FIRST QUESTION:

FROM THE GENETIC VIEWPOINT, WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A BONOBO AND A HUMAN ?

ANSWER:

48 CHROMOSOMES IN FAVOR OF THE BONOBO AND 46 CHROMOSOMES FOR THE HUMAN.

SECOND QUESTION. WHO IS SUPERIOR HEALTH-WISE ?

ANSWER: Unless the bonobo eats the SAD (standard American diet), in the Wild, he has no cancer. Evidence.

"No cancer was observed among diseases of wild apes" (Chultz, 1967)

On the other hand, one out of two Americans will have a dignosis in his or her life. Evidence:

“For the first time, cancer has surpassed heart disease as the top killer of Americans under 85…” (American Cancer Society’s annual report released in January 2005)

THIRD SET OF QUESTION:

ANY DIFFERENCE OF LIFESTYLE BETWEEN THE BONOBO AND THE HUMAN ?

The bonobo is a plant-eating biped, 80 percent of which is fruit. Clay, tree barks, roots (including ginger he loves), flowers, leaves, berries, seeds, fruits make up his meals, with a few insects like live ants for zinc and other minerals, all of whic makes up less than 5 percent protein.

WHAT ABOUT DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE BONOBO TRIBE AND HUMAN SOCIETY ?

In a Bonobo community, provided the habitat is natural, these great apes are known to be playful, intelligent, creative and non destructive.

On the other hand, if a Human Society lacks the Spirit of Vitality, a holistic culture and compassion, it usually means that the nucleus and the electrons are not well balanced and havoc ensues.

" When dissoluteness and disease abound  in a city, are not law courts an surgeries opened in abundance, and do not Lawyers and Physicians begin to hold their heads high…”

In this dialogue, Socrates was chating with Glaucon on the consequences of the replacement of a plant-based diet by a meat-based diet preferred by Glaucon. Socrates was explaining that a diet of barley, wheat, olives, figs, beans, myrtle berries, beech nuts and wine in moderation were all conducive the health contentment while an animal diet would lead to diseases, to a sickness industry, legal strife and tension etc. Glaucon prefered to argue that the sacrifice of animals for tasty food was the way to go. (cf Plato’s Dialogue).

hunza Picture of a Hilamayan eco-village: The “CANCER-FREE”  Hunza People From the Himalaya, who have been closely studied regarding whom physicians have confirmed for a long time  that  “The Hunzas have no known incidence of cancer” (Dr Robert McCarrison, AMA Journal, Jan 7, 1922).  In addition,  “ They live well beyond 100 years old and have commonly been known to still father children at the age of 110” (ibid.),  provided they do not adopt the “sad” model  (standard American diet”)  and stay  in their paradisiacal eco-villages close to Nature: Some of their lifestyle conditions -  no pollution and toxic stress, pure and alcalinic water and vibrant healthy foods rich in rubidium and potassium, clean  & ozonated air, rich humus-topsoil, medium mountain altitude, exercises, sun, plant-based diet, with lots of fiber and apricots (eating  the  nitriloside-amygdalin rich kernel). As much of the Hunza culture gravitates around the apricot tree, it is interesting to observed that they have used apricot seeds as monetary units, medicine, cosmetic and food oil while a Hunza's wealth is measured in terms of the quality and quantify of apricot trees and seeds.

Vision

Enlighteded self sovereinty via self-reliant holistic and sustainable communities

In order to contribute in warding off the destruction of the "self", from the grips of auto-immune diseases (over one hundred and increasing), in order to avoid the self-destruction of human communities (e.g., Unicef = 40,000 children dieing each day from avoidable), in order to reconvert the millions of acres of arable land which were turned into deserts by our divisive Civilization, we need an inspiring VISION.

The Garden of Eden imagery could work.

Coherent and vibrant sustainable communities are but the continuation of the Garden of Eden era.

Nothing unrealizable. Nothing knew under this Sun either. Even the Bible refers to "Eden" and "The Kingdom on Earth as it is in Heaven" where our "daily bread" (basic needs) requirement is met without stress and chronic diseases each day. (By checking out the eco-village references, one will be able to weigh the preponderance of the evidence in this realm (CLICK HERE THE FOR THE EVIDENCE).

In this perspective, for the last twenty years, there has been a growing ecovillages movement, (CLICK HERE FOR DEFINITION), from over 1500 eco-villages in the US and over 2,000 in Europe and many more on the other continents, over 15,000. These sustainable communities are governed less by competitive greed and fear (via monetary and military action mechanisms) than by universal, spiritual and holistic values based on creative meaningfulness and the respect of Life.

The philosophical bedrock upon which it is based rests on the hippocratic general principle known as "primum non nocere" (i.e., first, do no harm), a principle upheld by Dr Hippocrates (the father of modern medicine), by  Sun Tzu (the father of the  military arts ), by Montesquieu (the father of modern political philosophy), by  Bhouda (the Indian healer, via his “ahimsa” doctrine), by the 19th century political thinker, British Parliament member John Stuart Mill (the father of modern political and economic liberty, see his "no harm" doctrine by CLICKING HERE) and by the European "precautionary principle".

This "Satyagraha", or “the force of truth,” pioneered by Gandhi, has inspired many social and spiritual movements and has inspired our.

In this perspective, under the constellation of the present circumstances, it is possible if not desirable to envision a planet of diverse cultures of all life united in celebrating our Aliveness via the creation of sustainabble eco-communities in harmony with each other and the Earth, while meeting the basic needs of this and future generations.

Eco-village entities are like healthy cells of a human or animal body. They are disease-free, sustainable, holistic pieces of biological gems.

Which oxidize, acidify, turn sour, cancerize and metastasize into entropic chaos when "enlightened self-sovereignty" and the Spirit of Vitality is deficient. (See on the top right what a cell which has deviated from the Community of healthy cells looks like when it turns into cancer).

HOW WE CAN PROMOTE THE SUSTAINABLE AND ECO VILLAGE MOVEMENT

Via tax and bonus incentives for opportunities favoring experimental living in sustainable communities (urban, co-housing, rural areas) where eco-construction, alternative energies, kudzu and other biomass fuel to replace gas, organic agriculture and viticulture (to maintain health), strong fiber cash crops industry (for housing bio-materials, non polluting paper and natural fiber textiles), crafts, local monetary units, appropriate technology, home schooling, human rights and duties eco-village formative centers, the building of the civic responsibility statue for the State etc., can be worked upon, in the Khalil sense of the word "work" (= "right work is love made visible").

SEARCHING FOR A NEW DEFINITION OF "LEGAL WORK"

It is presently the candidate's opinion that if mainstream work leads to the killing of innocent animals, to the destruction of our health (toxic prescribed drugs, the processed "food" industry, the soda pop epidemic, the production of tobacco etc.), the stripping of needed resources from the famine striken world, the destruction of our environment and the decomposition of our social fabric, inter alia, for the private gain of those callous individuals who have used Machiavelian ruse and Robespierrian deception to legally and politically control the People's Democracy and mislead the community, then it necessarily follows (if we are to be guided by enlightened Reason), that this type of work should not be considered to be "legal" work.

On the other hand, an exemplary and enlightened government would enact statutes that would prohibit this type of work. In the same way that employment that promotes illegal destructive drugs and weapons is illegal, in the same way, employment that leads to the destruction of life should also be illegal. If it isn't, then we must legally requalify the government and assert that the Government is not an Institution "for the people", but an instrument of special interests groups who care less about the welfare of the People than about the control they have over others and the never-ending accumulation of power and greed.

HISTORY RIPENS

In this perspective, Washington’s next governor will have the obligation to govern in light of the State, Federal and International human rights standards, but the freedom to choose which type and-or mixtures of civilizations he or she may desire to better meet the People’s basic needs. So the issue is to identify the civilization options. There are only three options, so the choice is not difficult. But does necessitate political courage. American and Western post-industrial Civilization appears to have no credible solutions to most of our problem. While holistic, sustainable and Spiritual Civilizations are more resilient and more satisfying from the viewpoint of the satisfaction of our basic needs and dignity. Mission:

By planting the seeds of renewal today, we can harvest the fruits of change tomorrow. By contributing in the creation of a sustainable future, by creating one pilot eco-village in each of the 39 counties in a rural setting, be it in un-used big barns and land, or in wooded lands or co-housing areas, we can plant the seeds of hatikvah and harvest public happiness.

SEEKING AND SEEDLING HOLISTIC HEALTH ECO VILLAGES

There is a need for people and communities to meet and share their ideas, exchange technologies, develop cultural and educational exchanges and be devoted to restoring the land and living sustainable and holistic lives.

Trans-frontier eco-villages, intentional communities, autonomous counties, vibrant States and peaceful Nations are all based on our enshrined "enlightened self-sovereignty" and will one day constitute the Republic of enlightened values Victor Hugo, Ben Franklin and Sri Aurobindo spoke about, endowed with universal competence on issues which are by nature trans-national.

SO IS ENSEEDED THE VISION
