The Mission“Because I feel Washington State should be leading the Nation in promoting a Spiritual Civilization based on holistic medicine, alternative energy, affordable housing, relevant education, a dynamic economy, bio-diversity, world development and meaningful access to justice, I respectfully propose my “FUNDAMENTAL FREEDOMS” PLAN OF ACTION.” (Christian Pierre Joubert) Washington State’s Voters Pamphlet, primary election, August 19th, 2008).
The fundamental freedoms Action Committee's is the governing entity of Enlightened-consent Organization, a non profit corporation which was registered with the Secretary of State in 2006. It's mission is to contribute in promoting a Spiritual and holistic Civilization based on holistic medicine, alternative energy, affordable housing, relevant education, a dynamic economy, bio-diversity, world development and meaningful access to justice so that we all can satisfy our basic needs without having to sacrifice our health on the altar of greed and ignorance. It's subsidiary mission is to protect our internationally recognized human rights, our fundamental freedoms and our constitutional rights, including, but not limited to equal access to holistic health, equal access to civil justice and equal access to relevant skills and knowledge and meaningful access to sustainability and eco-villages. In this perspective, we will use the power of creative imagination and enlightened energy via law, politics, science and the arts to contribute in the full realization of the most important Article of the entire Public International law corpus, Article 28 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. "Everyone is entitled to a social and international order in which the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration can be fully realized".In addition, our Mission is to contribute in defining a new relationship between the Governement and the People, from the bottom up, while contributing in identifying the leading edge of breakthrough solutions to the global, legal, ecological, social and moral collapse of centralized "democratic capitalism" which continues to imperil our communities, endanger our future generations and the ramsack our Planet.
FROM THE IDOL OF GDP (GROSS DOMESTIC PRODUCT) OF THE MINORITIES TO THE IMPERATIVE OF GWB (GENERAL WELL BEING OR HAPPINESS ) OF THE MAJORITY.
Robespierre, Rousseau, Voltaire and other French philosophes spoke of "public happiness" as being the purpose of the Government while in 1776 the American Declaration of Independence argued for “certain inalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness” As such, nation-states have been formed on the basis of what the People lost (before the era of Nation States). On the basis of what different ancient civilizations was able to maintain, happiness. Hence, the search or the “pursuit”. And this desire has been put on par with the right to life and the right to freedom. In the United Kingdom for example, interest in happiness was brought to widespread attention with the moral philosophy of Jeremy Bentham (1789), influenced by the French Enlightenment, who argued that the purpose of politics should be to bring the greatest happiness to the greatest number of people. Since, political and sociological interest in happiness has not diminished in modern times. A recent survey (Easton, 2006) found that 81% of the UK population agreed that the Government’s primary objective should be the creation of happiness not wealth. Earlier this year David Cameron, HM Leader of the Opposition, put happiness firmly on the political agenda by arguing that “It’s time we admitted that there’s more to life than money, and it’s time we focused not just on GDP, but on GWB – general well-being" (BBC, 2006). It seems likely that the current political and media interest in happiness has to a large extent been provoked by a surge of research interest in the topic in economics (see Oswald & Powdthavee, 2006) and positive psychology (see Diener, 2000). Indeed psychologists have led the call for measures of subjective well-being (SWB) to form the basis of Government policy and the political assessment of a nation’s success (Diener, 2000). The increasing importance of SWB in comparison to other measures has been reviewed by Diener & Suh (1997) who concluded that “subjective well-being measures are necessary to evaluate a society, and add substantially to the economic indicators that are now favoured by policy makers” (p.189). As such psychologists are arguing that psychological theory and testing should form a basis of political governance.
While collecting data on subjective well-being is not an exact science, the measures used are very reliable in predicting health and welfare outcomes. It can be argued that while these measures are not perfect they are the best we have so far, and these are the measures that politicians are talking of using to measure the relative performance of each country.
The researchers have argued that regular testing as a collaboration between academics in different countries would enable us to track changes in happiness, and what events may cause that. For example what effect would a war, or famine, national success, six weeks vacations paid or raw vegan chocolate mouse have on a country's members' happiness. ENLIGHTENED CONSENT ORGANIZAITON AND THE ROUSSEAU-IST "SOCIAL PACT", BASED ON THE "NO HARM" DOCTRINE
Enlightened Consent Organization has moved into action by establishing in June of 2008 the Fundamental Freedoms Action Committee via its president, which in turn has declared its public existence via the gubernatorial primaries elections of August 2008 in Washington State, at which point the main thrust was to propose to the Community, to the People, a Plan of Action or Social Pact based on one hundred and seventy eight (178) alternative and holistic social measures that could signficantly contribute to inspire and activate a major paradigmatic shift in consciousness to live on Earth in ways that honors the web of life and the Spirit of the Youniverse while better securing our enlightened self sovereignty right via active self-determination and environmentally friendly self reliance techniques. In this perspective and in compliance with our human duties and the exigencies of human dignity, the Fundamental Freedoms Action fans will strive to favor the interests of the "public good" and the integrity of “life”, governed by the central principle of the Committee's President's gubernatorial program: “primum non nocere” (First, do no harm), a principle upheld by Dr Hippocrates (the father of modern medicine), by Sun Tzu (the father of the military arts ), by Montesquieu (the father of modern political philosophy), by Bhouda (the Indian healer, via his “ahimsa” doctrine) and by the 19th century political thinker and British Parliament member John Stuart Mill (the father of modern political and economic liberty, see his "no harm" doctrine by CLICKING HERE). Satyagraha, or “the force of truth,” pioneered by Gandhi, has inspired the social movements of today. Founded in 2008, the Fundamental Freedoms Action Committee promotes practical and innovative social strategies for restoring and protecting Washington State's and the Planet's imperiled health, justice, education, economic and ecological systems. In terms of methodology, we use a Gestalt, holistic and often alternative approach to life's challenges, meaning we are inclined to prioritize structural solutions as opposed to symptomatology, we take a systemic "solve-the-whole-problem" approach and try to avoid de "noise" of vanity, prefering meaningful action to completion, cooperation to competition, inaction to reaction and peaceful revolution to dogmatic entropy. "Peace is not a passive nor definitive state, a kind of Dead Sea where the river of History goes to die. On the contrary, peace is a state of high human activity which mobilizes the highest functions of the human spirit. Peace requires a continuous creation of new values, new emotions, new ways of thinking. It is only at this price that our new institutions that peace requires can live. In a word, Peace is the highest and most arduous form of the Universal Revolution." (Madariaga, president of the "Thirteen", League of Nation) THE PRIORITY OF PRIORITIES: EQUAL ACCESS TO HOLISTIC HEALTH FOR ALL, INCLUDING TO ANIMALS " Christian Joubert, of Edmonds, would make public health and holistic healing his top priority. The Democrat says on his Web site that "chronic diseases including chronic stress can be cut down by at least half in four years" under his proposed policies". SEATTLE TIMES by staff reporter Andrew Garber, July 27, 2008 .... "Not until we extend the circle of compassion to include all living things shall we ourselves know peace" Dr Albert Schweitzer. Today, in America in general and Washington State in particular, we the People are facing major political, financial, legal and health crises, all which are eroding our basic human rights and are undermining our dignity as human beings. The necessary point of departure to any renewal of Civilization is its People's health, physical, mental, social, spiritual. To this end, we have proposed collaboration with Governor Christine Grégoire so that she introduces more equal access to holistic health and a better public health system. OUR MISSION IN HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE ON THE "END OF HISTORY" AND THE LIMITATION OF A CONSUMERISM, MATERIALISTIC AND COMPETITIVE CIVILIZATION According to the best historians, from Michelet to Sun Tzu, Clausewitz to Toynbee, in the last ten thousands years, there have been only three types of civilizations: Tens of thousands of Societies. But only three regional civilizations. 1. The military one. 2. The mercantile or commercial one. 3. And the spiritual or holistic one In his many huge volumes of History, the historian Arnold Toynbee had spent over 50 years of his life studying these hydraulic (river) civilizations and their many societies, their regulations, their evolutionary patterns and their demise. At the end of his vast inquiry, the historian determined that the People’s basic needs were the most fulfilled in the Spiritual civilizations, such as during the Neolithic eco-village era before social differentiation set in or during the 5th century B.C. when the Lao Tseus, the Boudhas, the Isaias, the Zarathustras, the Hippocrates and the Socrates were on the five major continents enlightening the People with their pearls of wisdom and quantic energy flow. In this context, the political philosopher Socrates, (5 B.C.) in one of his famous dialogues, had actually pinpointed two human activities that would push people to the military and mercantile civilization modalities. These were the health and the legal systems. " When dissoluteness and disease abound in a city, are not law courts an surgeries opened in abundance, and do not Lawyers and Physicians begin to hold their heads high…” In this dialogue, Socrates was chating with Glaucon on the consequences of the replacement of a plant-based diet by a meat-based diet preferred by Glaucon. Socrates was explaining that a diet of barley, wheat, olives, figs, beans, myrtle berries, beech nuts and wine in moderation were all conducive the health contentement while an animal diet would lead to diseases, to a sickness industry, legal strife and tension etc. Glaucon prefered to argue that the sacrifice of animals for tasty food was the way to go. (cf Plato’s Dialogue). With the erosion of time, Greek mainstreamers and other glutons based their diet on the shedding of innocent animal blood and processed foods. Little by little, they lost their center. To humility and sensitivity, was substituted callousness, greed and arrogance. The wealthy used all of the tricks of finance, power and deceit to get wealthier and society became polarized. Like with Imperial Rome a little later, inner city conflicts weakened the Nation, until foreign invasions finished off these legalistic and sickness-industry laden Societies. In the past, Egypt, Babylon, Persia, Rome, France, fell when a small percentage of the population controlled nearly all of the wealth. Most of the time, the concentration of wealth has been achieved by deception and conquest, what Marx called "the primitive accumulation of capital". The over-extension of military ambition and dwindling monetary resources weakened many of these civilizations. In this context, Napoléon sold the Louisiana area to Jefferson for dirt cheap in order to have additional monetary resources to attempt to swallow Russia. With rising repression inside the country, the exploited often join forces with their rulers' enemies, applying the strategy "The enemy of my enemy is my friend". And then comes war. Invasion. Occupation. Reparation. Debt. Conferences on human rights. Since the early times of this Christian era, tens of thousands of Societies has emerged on the five continents, from the depth of Africa and Asia to the Ottomane powers, where the Ottoman people themselves also came face to face with decadence as nearly half of their population was chronically ill and obese. Curiously, chronic diseases went hand in hand with the well-recorded Ottoman militarism, mercantilism, tentacular bureaucracy (e.g. red tape) and that government's imperialistic instinct. The Ottomane Empire definitely died when the British, the Americans, the French and allies vanquished the Austra-German powers (and their allies). Over two thousands (2000) years after Socrates' plant-based diet dialogue, Academic studies have undisputely proven that Socrates and not Glaucon was right, insofar as the health superiority of a plant-based diet is concerned. "Americans will not reduce their rate of cancers, cardiovascular disease and other chronic, degenerative diseases until they shift their diets away from animal-based foods to plant-based foods, according to research findings emerging from the most comprehensive project on diet and disease ever done. Findings from the study suggest that even eating just small amounts of animal-based foods is linked to significantly higher rates of cancers and cardiovascular diseases typically found in the United States, said Cornell nutritional biochemist T. Colin Campbell, director of the Cornell-China-Oxford Project on Nutrition, Health and Environment (...) To get really significant changes in disease rates, it will be necessary to shift the American diet from its heavy reliance on animal-based foods to one that relies far more on plant-based foods," said Campbell, who along with his colleagues has been analyzing the data from the the China project, a collaborative effort of Cornell, the Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine and University of Oxford. The project, which just received $200,000 from the American Institute for Cancer Research to continue analyzing data, is a massive survey designed to study diet, lifestyle and disease across the far reaches of China; it includes almost 7,000 Chinese families. By investigating simultaneously more diseases and more dietary characteristics than any other study to date, the project has generated the most comprehensive database in the world on the multiple causes of disease. " [Cornell Chronicle (12/01/94)] . Yet and still (that excerpt above was written in 1994), the American Academy of Science, its nutrition board, most of American Academia, most of American mainstream Science are in self-denial. Or self delusion. Or simply bought by corporate greed. Prefering to self-servingly invest in costly illusions and convenient "comfort", whether this is in the fields of nutrition, oncology or other disciplines. In the Fundamental Freedoms Pact book, the evidence of all of this is well established, including in the book's section on longevity and lifestyle medicine. (See also the longevity medicine link by clicking here). Yet, to this very day, there is little evidence that the mainstream System has anything significant to offer to reduce the magnitude of the People's chronic diseases and connected social ills and bills. Each year, there are more and more "new" diseases labeled and today, many women, at the suggestion of mainstream physicians are now opting for preventive masectomy (the removal of both breasts, preventively) as a solution to breast cancer "genetic" risks. In the country, most (not all) of the power elite thrive on the People's ignorance, diseases, debts, confusion, which they often create, knowingly and unknowingly, while making lots of money in the meantime. One of many illustrations below. "Not only did the Bush administration do nothing to protect consumers, it embarked on an aggressive and unprecedented campaign to prevent states from protecting their residents from the very problems to which the federal government was turning a blind eye."(http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=8376). FROM THE MILITARO-MERCANTILE ENSLAVEMENT TO A SPIRITUAL AND HOLISTIC CIVILIZATION “All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident". Schopenhauer As Toynbee and other historians noted, throughout history there has been major struggle in just about all societies between a ruling class and those who are not privileged. Toynbee noted that the center of gravity of this inner State conflict gravitates around special or vested military and financial interests and social justice. And many of those uncivic public servants who control the State use many tricks and ruses in the worse of the Machiavellian tradition. Fear, war, civil rights ban and terror are routinely used to shut down rational thinking processes, a tactic that Naomi Klein outlines in her book The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism ( http://www.naomiklein.org/shock-doctrine ). Military civilizations are based on fear, security via weapons of massive destruction and finances as a tool of power. And rampant human rights violations and hubris. Mercantile or commercial civilizations are based on insecurity, greed, financial abuse, vanity, profitability, stress, injustices and paranoia And the spiritual or holistic one is based on faith, holistic health, eco-settlements, human rights and duties promotion, justice and enlightened consent, creative humility, self reliance knowledge and self determination, some creative "hutzpah" and more than the pursuit of happiness, though less than permanent "joie de vivre". Consider the Hunza eco villages, where Dr McCarrison and others did not record any chronic diseases, even less jealousy nor violence. Revealingly, British surgeon Dr Robert McCarrison, writing in the AMA Journal Jan 7, 1922 concluded that the absence of diseases in the Hunza People was connected to their diet, good spring water, lifestyle, sun, exercises and their lack of stress that came from living in a simple society close to Nature and aligned aligned with universal values such as life, liberty and solidarity, thanks to which basic human needs for food, water, shelter, clothing, and education were well met. "They have an abundant crop of apricots. These they dry in the sun and use largely in their food....The Hunzas have no known incidence of cancer. In addition, They live well beyond 100 years old and have commonly been known to still father children at the age of 110” ". Spiritual and holistic social movements are born when People realize that there are other modes of social and international organizations than power rivalries, when the public myths and fears via State manipulation are unmasked, when they come face to face with the shocking, immoral and illegal power elite behavior. When they realize that they don't really need the State to satisfiy ther basic needs and once they organize collectively and locally. Among other examples, witness the example of mayor of Worgl in Austria, in 1932 when economic conditions were dysfunctional. In this context, the mayor proposed to substitute a local currency for the national currency, which he called “work certificates.” On the first of every month the holder had to affix a 1 percent stamp of the face value of the certificate. The "taxes" went into the community chest, to provide a relief fund for the invalids or elderly who were unable to work. Because of the stamp tax, taxes were paid quickly, accounts were settled without the usual delays, and even the bank became eager to loan out money, as fast as it received it. The mayor then embarked upon a public works program "to alleviate want, give work and bread". Before these initiative, the conditions of the streets of Worgl had been deplorable. With these monetary innovations, in less than four months, sewers and improvements were completed. Later, other streets were paved, and even streets outside of Worgl were repaired. Prosperity blossomed throughout Worgl. Inspired by Worgl’s success, a meeting of 200 Austrian mayors decided unanimously to follow the Worgl example in their impoverished communities. However, because in History, there are many howevers, the private Austrian National Bank protested against the shattering of its money-making monopoly. After a legal fight, the Austrian Supreme Court sided with the bank. Although this experiment was abruptly terminated in Austria, the Worgl experience inspired three or four hundred scrips in circulation in the United States, Canada, and Mexico during the Great Depression (Interest and Inflation Free Money, 1995 by Margrit Kennedy, http://tiny.cc/FQtb3). France and Switzerland also had many innovative monetary village systems during the stock and finance provoked Depression of the 1930s and the subsequent world war of the 1940s. Today there are similar examples, most of which are perfectly legal, like in the Attica Eco-village, whose members created their own monetary system which works so well that even non eco village people are using this system. And the Mayan even before the Austrians used the cacao bean as a monetary unit. Today, the Internet has had an "equalizer" function, just like nuclear arms for small sovereign States (though not with the same risks). This media revolution has led to an increasingly rapid transmission of information challenging powerholders, maionstream institutions, and cultural and political myths. With the damage and the massive human suffering coming from incompetent and abusive military and economic predators and thanks to technological developments, spiritual and social movements are spreading and educating and organizing the "Court" of national and international public opinon to contribute in redressing social problems via self-reliance techniques and relevant knowledge. At times they have come together in increasingly powerful coalitions. Professor and author Anthony Hall has called them “the fourth world,” (http://mqup.mcgill.ca/book.php?bookid=1628) and others refer to them as the “global justice movement.” The majority of this "Internet Republic" are against wars, tortures, bailouts of big finance, the subsidizing and-or tax relief of big business like big pharm, big sad (standard american diet) business, persistent agri-chemical busisess many (not all) of which are not necessarily commercing in the general interets of the People, the Common Good and public health. Many (not all) of those in power depend on the public to be miseducated, diseased, uninformed, disengaged, apathetic, cynical, demoralized, paranoid, powerless and inactive, in this way they are free to better control and impose their will on others. Meanwhile, the problems and the suffering proliferate. This is why the most significant contribution to Society a civic citizen can do starts in the kitchen plate and under the palate. And in one's "body-heart-mind-spirit" apparatus. By being healthy, vibrant and strong, by giving the example of lucidity, reason, compassion, enlightened "protest" (or resistance) and truth, we can invite more of our fundamental freedoms to flower and give new blood to those who are morally bankrupted and intellectually stale. And in the process, the man-made deserts and man-made urban megapolis' can be transformed into oases of sustainable eco-communities endowed with short supply lines (if only because the major reason almost all tyrants succombed to divisive evil and their people's culture to decadence was due sustained abuses of ego "ambition" as expressed by long supply lines, from Alexamder the "Great", to Genghis Khan, Bush, Staline, Hitler, Nelson and even Napoléon). It is in this historical context and with this vibrational intention in mind that our Mission lives. So that enlighted self-sovereignty based on equal access to radiant health, equal access to justice, equal access to relevant knowledge for all and meaningful access to eco-community sustainability will be the norm. From the perspective of astro-physics, our solar system is still very young, it has been around for less than 5 percent of its life potential. In the same way, in the perspective of the History of Civilizations, the United States as a Nation, as a People and as a imperial consumerism civilization militarily present in 130 countries is also extremely young, 200 years in relation to 10,000 years of human history. More mistakes will be made. As used to say our 20th century encyclopedist friend Raymond Aron, "there is no limit to inanity". Meanwhile, we can feel some semblance of ontological serenity knowning that we need not endlessly theorize on the "pursuit" public happiness nor strive at fighting the "System". All of which tires out the adrenal glands. However, what we do need to do is to detox, to restore and to revitalize ourselves, body, mind, emotions and Spirit. And then re-organize socially so that our basic needs are met via "short supply lines". When holistic health eco-villages will irrigate all of the man-made deserts of our five Continents, there will then be a new Republic. A celestial Republic. A Republic with universal competence on all of what is by nature trans-frontier (epidemics, State rivalries, war, finance, natural catastrophes, environment), based on internet voting of the People. Of Community. Based on what works the best in terms of the satisfaction of Humanity's basic needs, as opposed to the present state of affairs where greedy, paranoid and callous "big business" has bought with fictitious paper money our federal Constitution, has usurped the People's sovereignty, has soiled the purity of enlightened Democracy. And, in the process, has destroyed the People's health, the Nation's resources and the World's peace. Let alone their own souls.
